Moorestown
Named one of the top places to live by Money Magazine, the township is home to many stately mansions, Strawbridge Lakes, Moorestown Mall, the Burlington County farm market, defense contractor Lockheed Martin and the cruiser in the cornfield-a ship superstructure atop a Navy/Aegis Combat System building, a landmark that can be seen by New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 295 drivers. The Moorestown friends School still operates as a private school. The Perkins Center for the Arts, a former manor house, and the Community House, built by the RCA founder are on the National Register of Historic Places.
Moorestown was ranked number one in Money magazine's list of the best places to live in America in 2005. [10] The magazine screened over a thousand small towns and created a list of the top 100 for its August 2005 issue. The township earned the top spot because of its true community feeling, in addition to its plentiful jobs, excellent schools and affordable housing. Another one of its attributes is its close proximity to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, about a 15-minute commute.
